King Ridge Foundation and Russian River Brewing Company donate $400,000 to Council on Aging
by Natalie A. Cilurzo, Co-Owner~ Russian River Brewing Company
Sonoma County, CA. ~ Last October we launched a large fundraising effort for wild- fire victims here in Sonoma County, naming it after one of our existing
brands,
Sonoma Pride. In these past 8 months, with the help of over 60 breweries, individuals and businesses from around the world, we raised over $1.1 Million, do- nated 300 bicy- cles to kids, and helped 668 families. We part- nered with 10 other local non- profits to help administer the funds, such as Redwood Em- pire Food Bank, Forget Me Not Farm and St. Vincent de Paul. Council on Aging (COA), a lo- cal non-profit who assists 8,000 seniors in our community and provides their Meals on Wheels program, has taken responsibil-
ity for assisting the hundreds of senior residents who lost their homes in the Journey’s End mobile home park in the
home, St. Vincent de Paul will provide furniture through their “House In A Box” program. The residents will also be able to
receive COA
services and free Meals on Wheels.
This has been the most fulfilling fundraising effort with which we have
ever been
involved. The support from the beer commu- nity worldwide has been noth- ing short of re-
Tubbs Fire. Many of these el- derly residents are still living hotels, staying with friends, or couch surfing. With our recent donation of $400,000 to COA they were able to purchase 5 homes which will be placed in another park here in Santa Rosa, thus getting 5 seniors into their new forever home! In addition to the manufactured
markable. And now we can all proudly say that the money we collectively raised placed 5 Santa Rosa residents back into their own home.
We can’t wait to meet the people who are benefitting di- rectly from these much-needed funds when we deliver their first case of Pliny the Elder!
