Upbeat Times with Gaylord Perry at Spring Training in Scotsdale, Arizona!!

Hi Paul, I’m Back! Last year, I took Upbeat Times to Arizona Spring Training. Gaylord Perry (Hall of Fame pitcher) auto- graphed the paper. We had our picture taken together while holding the newspaper. I told Mr. Perry, I’d write an article about him, and try to get our picture into the Upbeat Times. He said, “If you do, bring me a copy next year!” A few weeks ago, I went back to Scottsdale Arizona to see the San Francis- co Giants play at Spring Train- ing. Gaylord Perry was at the stadium,

smiling his gentle

genuine smile, eyes glistening, shaking hands and signing au- tographs.

I handed him a copy of

the Upbeat Times for him to keep. He looked at our pic- ture, smiled, autographed my copies and said he would read the article later. I informed Mr. Perry that there was also a bio written about him on page 10. He said, “Would you like me to sign that for you, too?!” I said that would be great, the more autographs the merrier! gether once again, and he was kind enough to hold up the edi- tion of Upbeat Times, which portrayed our autograph pic- ture and the articles that were written about him from last year. What a unique gem for the Upbeat Times to have two autographs in one newspaper by the famous baseball legend, Gaylord Perry. The next day, I met his wife and she said that he really liked the picture and articles. Mrs. Perry said that they would al- ways keep the newspaper. She also said, “We won’t ever use it to line the bottom of the bird- cage!”

JOKES & Humor # 5 My three-year-old daugh- ter stuck out her hand and said, “Look at the fly I killed, Mommy.” Since she was eat- ing a juicy pickle at the time, I thrust her contaminated hands under the faucet and washed them with antibacterial soap. After sitting her down to finish her pickle, I asked, with a touch of awe, “How did you kill that fly all by yourself?” Between bites, she said, “I hit it with my pickle.”
