A $9.8 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foun- dation fully funded construc- tion of the 35,500-square-foot library building, which opened in the fall of 2010. In 2017, library visits totaled 199,264. Program attendance during
2017 totaled 20,500 partici- pants, according to the li- brary’s annual report. Pro- grams included the Tween Advisory Council, Classic Sat- urdays, Adult Coloring Club, Studio 300 Market Place, Scratch Lab, Crazy 8‘s Math Club and Try Something New, Literary Series, Brain Teasers 2, and 1000 Books Before Kin- dergarten. Partnering with Mountain Home Public Schools, the

library rolled out their Tech Card program in the fall of 2016, Every student in the 6th-9th grades. Students, received a Tech Card giving them access to a various edu- cational resources for help with homework and school projects. The library continued to
partner with The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas to serve over 400 meals to chil- dren attending library pro- grams on Saturdays. This part- nership continued when school started with snacks for stu- dents attending the library’s after school programs. The library’s collection
contains 85,000 items plus a large selection of eBooks,
audio books and videos avail- able for downloading from
baxlib.org. Patrons may borrow books, movies and music or visit the library to read and use public computers. The library also offers Wi-Fi and high speed internet. Library cards are available
at no charge to Baxter County residents and Arkansas State University Mountain Home students. Residents outside of Baxter County may obtain a library card for a $30 annual fee.
The library also features a
local history and genealogy room, and access to microfilm and microfilm reader. Commu- nity organizations may book the Knox Community Meeting
Rooms at no cost during reg- ular library hours and for a fee after library hours. Businesses may also book the rooms for a fee.
Volunteers are vital to the
