End of term awards
Banbury Young Musician
Congratulations to Sibford musicians who gave some very impressive performances at the Banbury Young Musician of the Year Final which took place on the first Saturday of February half term. Sixth Form student Iain won the Senior Piano section; Year 8 pupil Isobel won the Intermediate Singing section and was also named as Most Improved Performer. Meanwhile, our Junior Choir
were winners of the Ensmble Class and were also highest point scorers for duets and ensembles.
Congratulations to the following Junior School pupils who received end of term awards. Leo (Year 6) was awarded the Head Teacher’s Cup for academic
achievement; Rosie and Eva (Year 5) received the PSFA Award for demonstrating the spirit of the Junior School; Hanne-Lydia (Year 4) received the Howes Cup, recognising achievement in Science; Kaiya (Year 3) received the Trudy Koochitt Creative Writing Cup; Alex (Year 3) received the Janet Friday Cup for Organisation and Zach (Year 6) was awarded the Ali Sayer Art Cup. The Andrew Yale Cup for the pupil on a support
programme who has made the most progress during the term was awarded to Frey in Year 6.
Hair today and gone tomorrow!
Three Sixth Form students have undergone a close shave for charity. Dan, Ben and Ajay had their heads shaved in aid of the OddBalls Foundation, a charity that raises awareness of Testicular Cancer.
Fellow pupils paid to watch as first Dan - followed two days later
by Ben and Ajay - went under the razor and saw their locks fall to the ground. The ‘shaveathons’ were the highlight of a week of charity fundraising in aid of cancer charities ... also benefiting from Sibford generosity was Breast Cancer Care. In addition to sponsoring the boys’ haircut, pupils decorated t-shirts, painted nails and swapped their uniform for outfits in blue or pink. Pupils raised a total of £579.96 to be split between the two charities. In addition, a Just Giving page set up by Dan, Ben and Ajay has raised a further £780.20 for OddBalls.
• Isobel will be performing with National Youth Choirs of Great Britain at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on 13th April.
