t the south west tip of Scotland, yet only two hours from Glasgow, lies Knockinaam Lodge, one of Scotland’s finest small

hotels, surrounded by 30 acres of garden with immaculate lawns running down to a sandy, private beach. Knockinaam has the warm, inviting feel of a country house hotel with friendly, attentive staff who offer outstanding service. There are ten wonderful bedrooms, five of which have magnificent sea views and one is a two-bedroomed suite. All have very different personalities. The traditional ambience of the bedrooms is complemented by contemporary comfort. Fresh flowers, quality toiletries and other little touches create the perfect welcome when you first open the door.

Dining is a gastronomic experience. The creative presentation of

fresh, local produce is matched to a stunning cellar and a vast selection of malts. The award-winning Head Chef’s skilfully prepared cuisine mixes well with friendly, attentive service in the elegant candlelit restaurant. If the scenery does not take your breath away, the food will.

Knockinaam Lodge is steeped in history as Sir Winston Churchill met General Eisenhower and their Chiefs of Staff here during the Second World War. The area was also the setting for John Buchan’s classic novel, The 39 Steps. Near to this heavenly location is Scotland's National Book Town, Wigtown, which is also home to the UK's first Dark Sky Park. Guests can discover glorious gardens which thrive in the mild climate here and encounter exotic plants which benefit greatly from the Gulf Stream.

Luxury self-catering accommodation is also available in the cedar- clad cottage by the shore. The spacious cottage includes two beautiful en-suite bedrooms, modern kitchen and a sitting room, all with fantastic sea views. Guests are welcome to dine at Knockinaam Lodge just across the front lawn. There's a wonderful choice of outdoor activities, including great walking trails, and the Southern Upland Way is on the doorstep with the hotel also able to offer Nocturnal Wildlife Tours and Star Gazing experiences on their grounds, by private arrangement. Nearby in this stunning location lies the beautiful fishing village of Portpatrick as well as a wealth of historic visitor attractions and great golfing opportunities.
