Having worked for the fi rm for 15 years in our well-established Maidstone offi ce, the chance to be part of a new team in a new offi ce was both a daunting and nerve-wracking thought but at the same time an appealing challenge. As a private client lawyer specialising in Wills, trust and taxation it was time to get out of my comfort zone and build new connections. For a newly established offi ce, I look back with pride on what we have achieved during the last fi ve years and look forward with optimism on the outlook for the future. Canterbury is a fantastic place to work with a vibrant cosmopolitan feel to the city and one that we all relish being part of.
I was born and bred in Canterbury, growing up on a diet of hockey and cathedrals. Following the birth of a little boy, and with both our parents and siblings in East Kent, we decided for a change and relocated back to our roots in Canterbury in 2014 – and haven’t looked back since!

Law fi rm celebrates 5 YEARS IN CANTERBURY
Whitehead Monckton is celebrating fi ve years since the opening of its Canterbury offi ce. As a thank you to clients and professional contacts for being part of their successful fi rst fi ve years in the city, they are hosting an anniversary party at
their premises in Watling Street. The event will be hosted by a top team of legal experts who love working in the commercial heart of the city and here’s why…
What’s not to love about Canterbury? When I was approached by my head of department at the time to see whether I wanted a challenge, and to come across to Canterbury with him to open the offi ce, I bit his hand off! Canterbury has a strong commercial hub and I wanted the Whitehead Monckton brand to be a part of that. Since then, I have seen the Canterbury offi ce grow to become a strong, young and vibrant offi ce and I am very proud of the team we have all created here.
MARSHA MARRINER Director – Rural & Commercial Property Specialist
I am the newest member of the Property team, having joined Whitehead Monckton in September 2017. Although new to the fi rm, I have worked locally for many years and have strong connections with Canterbury having moved here at the age of 13 to attend the Kings School Canterbury.
LINDSAY SHARP Associate – Property Specialist
I joined Whitehead Monckton in April 2014 and while practicing I completed a Diploma in Advanced Litigation with Law South and have since continued to develop my interest in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. I have a fi rm belief in seeking to successfully resolve cases through mediation where possible prior to going to trial.
Having completed my training contract and 18 months’ PQE in the fi rm’s Maidstone offi ce I was delighted to be part of the team taking on the challenge of opening a new offi ce in Canterbury. As a lawyer in the Tax & Estate Planning department, specialising in Wills, tax planning, Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection, trusts and estates, the move to the city seemed like one with excellent opportunities. To date I have thoroughly enjoyed assisting the residents of Canterbury and surrounding areas, providing each with bespoke advice to their individual circumstances.
Having lived almost all my life in Kent, I returned permanently to Canterbury in 1999. I was very excited to join Whitehead Monckton for the launch of the Canterbury Offi ce in 2013 to establish a family law presence in this area. My aim is to tailor the excellent service that Whitehead Monckton is known for to each and
every client to deliver a series of outcomes suited to their personal situation.
