Uncorking Averys’ history


This year, Averys Wine, a fifth generation Bristol business and Chamber of Commerce member with a rich history, will be celebrating its 225 anniversary. In the 1920s, they pioneered many wines, wine


regions and trade practices. From there, they brought Pomerol and Petrus to the UK in the ’50s, Australian wines in the ’60s, New Zealand wines in the ’70s, a computer stock control system in the ’80s and personal wine advisers in the ’90s. Today, it is Mimi Avery introducing a new generation


of wine lovers to the company. Mimi said: “At the heart of what we do is sharing our passion for wine. We love discovering wines with a story to tell – whether for everyday drinking or fine wines for the cellar.” To celebrate the 225th anniversary, they will be launching new vintages and labels throughout the year. On Wednesday 10 October the celebrations will continue with a gala dinner aboard the magnificent SS Great Britain. They’ve joined forces with Moet & Chandon Champagne and shall also offer a bespoke menu curated by Michelin-starred chef, Jason Atheron.
