SOUTH WEST BUSINESS NEWS

Get connected with gigabit

In a 24/7, cloud-based, mobile-first digital society connectivity is key – and businesses in Bristol, Bath and North-east Somerset are being given a helping hand towards transforming their connections. Eligible small and medium businesses in the region can tap into a Government voucher scheme to upgrade their business broadband to a Gigabit-capable connection. Up to £3,000 is available to

support the capital costs of getting new gigabit capable connections – which can help double connectivity speeds. As one of the registered suppliers for The Gigabit Voucher Scheme, run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, leading managed services provider IFB can help to deliver better connectivity to eligible SMEs across the UK.

WHY do this? To raise charity funds!

Redrow Homes South West division has raised a massive £16,000 for cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY). In the past 12 months, staff at the housebuilder have taken part in a nail-biting charity abseil down a large cliff face in Uphill near Weston, a gruelling 12-mile Tough Mudder obstacle course, a sky dive, a charity football tournament, quiz nights, bake sales and more, all in aid of WHY. WHY works across Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire providing one-to-one counselling and support to patients, families,

friends and carers touched by diagnoses of cancer and other life- threatening conditions. The £16,000 Redrow’s regional

team has raised will fund 365 counselling sessions - one for every day of the year. Lee Hawker, managing director

of Redrow South West, said: “We’re so proud of everyone at Redrow South West’s amazing fundraising efforts, raising money for such a worthy cause. “It is fantastic working with We

Hear You who provide vital support to people who really need it across the region.”

Gemma Wilkes, fundraising and communications manager at WHY, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Redrow Homes. They have raised a phenomenal amount of money. “Our service is experiencing the

highest demand we have ever seen, making the support of businesses such as Redrow vital in our ability to support local communities. “I would like to say a huge thank

you to all the staff at Redrow. It will make a huge difference to supporting those people who need us.”
