Choose fresh berries in summer when their fl avour is at their best. During the winter months when prices are high, frozen berries make a great standby; just take out as many as and when you need, and blitz while still frozen.

Rich in vitamin C, berries and kale help white blood cells fi ght infections, boosting immunity and helping to keep our skin youthful by producing collagen.
Serves 1
25g shredded kale 50g blueberries
3 strawberries, hulled, halved or quartered
115g low-fat plain yogurt or non- dairy alternative 1 tbsp ground seed mix (see recipe) 125ml water, or to taste
1 Add 3 tbsp each of sesame, sunfl ower, pumpkin and golden fl axseeds to a blender goblet or spice mill, and blend until fi nely ground.
2 Scoop out and store in a sealed plastic container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
1 Add all the ingredients to a blender goblet, add the lid and blitz until smooth and frothy.
2 Stir in a little extra water if needed then pour into a tall glass.
