Ottawa, ON, Jan. 26, 2018 – Equestrian Canada (EC) extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Monica “Nicky” Graham, who passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2018, at the age of 90. Nicky married Pip Graham in London, GBR
in 1953. Three years later, the young couple em- igrated to Canada and bought a ranch in the foothills near Millarville, AB. Graham Ranches would grow to become not only home to their large, loving family, but also one of the most highly respected equestrian stables in Canada. Nicky was fearless in her approach to eques-

The farm hosted the Cheltenham Gold Cup Horse Show for twelve years (1977-1989), a show that featured a World Cup Qualifier and boasted riders from all across the continent. cember 16, 2017, was a prominent figure in show jumping as a sponsor, owner, business advisor and avid supporter. He supported some of the sport’s top riders and his Double H Farm has owned and produced some of the sport’s best horses. Harrison brought support of companies he led to the sport as some of show jumping’s most important spon- sors. Under his leadership, railway giants CN and CP have provided support to major events like the Spruce Meadows Masters, National Horse Show, World Cup Finals, North American Junior and Young Riders Championships and Palm Beach Masters. Harrison also played a major role as a horse owner and supporter of top riders. In addition to his daughter Cayce, who won the individual Gold medal at the North American Junior and Young Riders Championships in 2002, he supported McLain Ward, who won Olympic Gold and Silver medals and the 2017 FEI World Cup™ Finals with HH horses; international stars Rodrigo Pes- soa of Brazil and Daniel Duesser of Germany; and Cayce’s husband, Quentin Judge, a Grand Prix rider who has also achieved international success for the U.S. Sue Grange, a legendary equestrian icon who
trian sport, particularly eventing, and she taught, encouraged and mentored many young riders over the years. She was the driving force behind Graham Ranches and its role as the renowned training site for the Canadian Olympic Eventing Team. In addition to their unwavering support of high performance sport, Nicky and Pip always provided entertainment and sincere hospitality to all who visited Graham Ranches. After the ranch was sold, Nicky and Pip
moved to Hornby Island, BC and travelled exten- sively on their boat, “Lonely Bird”, up and down the west coast. They enjoyed many great adven-
tures together until Pip’s passing in 2007. Nicky will always be remembered for her in-
credible generosity, selflessness, humour and great sense of fun. When confronted with adver- sity, Nicky always said, “Bash on regardless.” May we all do the same, and continue to remem- ber and celebrate her indomitable spirit. “The equestrian world has lost not only a
great supporter, but a great presence with Nicky Graham’s passing,” said Meg Krueger, President of EC. “Nicky’s dedication to eventing made Graham Ranches the top destination for every- thing from local shows to Olympic training. Her passion and initiative will be sorely missed by the Canadian equestrian community.” Nicky is survived by her children, Juliet, Ar-
ifin, Nicholas and Tessa Graham, as well as grandchildren, Annie Bishop, Christopher and India Graham, and Hal Graham-Ozanne. Services will be held in Victoria, BC at St.
Matthias Church on Feb. 14, 2018 at 11 a.m, and in Horby Island, BC on Feb. 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. Donations in Nicky’s memory can be made to the Pacific Whale
