found inspiring. When they weren’t participating in workshops, the girls had the opportunity to go on a Buenos Aires photo safari, a tour of the Cathedral, see a polo presentation and spend time with their host families.

Elena Menendez-Sanchez says, “I got to meet so many

different, incredible people with new and innovative views; the new friends and new information changed me. I think I’ve become a more open and talkative person because of this. I also have a more optimistic view on the world and how we can change it for the better, knowing that all of our ideas are important and our voices will be listened to.”

Round Square Service Project in Thailand Twelve Year 10 and 11 students had the experience of a lifetime

over the Easter Break when they travelled to Thailand on a Round Square Service project with the aim of building a water tank for a small village, and exploring local Thai culture. The group spent the first two days in Chiang Mai and visited the Doi Suthep Temple and the Wat Chedi Luang temple, as well as a local market where the students tasted some local treats. They then spent the afternoon painting traditional parasols under the expert guidance of a local teacher. The next day, the students hiked through Doi Inthanon National Park, roasted and ground coffee beans and reached the highest point in Thailand. Day Four was when the work began! The students mixed

concrete by hand to plaster the exterior walls of the water tank and some even braved the heat to plaster the interior walls. They also visited a remote Karen village and spent the afternoon sharing songs and dances with the students. On the last day, everyone took part in a bamboo-weaving class and a blessing ceremony. Other highlights of the trip included The Flight of the Gibbon

zip lining course (not for the faint-hearted), a morning at the Elephant Conservation Centre just outside Chiang Mai, a morning on the river in Bangkok and a visit to fellow Round Square School, The Regent’s School.

School trip to Denmark During the April break, Librarian Marlie Powell took three Year 9 students, Jodi Curtis, Averie Mowbray Cramer and Ava Satasi to discover Danish art, architecture and history in Copenhagen. They explored Frederiksburg Castle, the largest renaissance castle in Scandinavia, took in the art at the Louisana Museum of Modern Art in Humelbaek, toured through the streets of Copenhagen on MeMover bikes and visited Kronborg Castle, which was the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. They also visited Christiansborg Palace which is a palace and government building on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen. At Christiansborg Palace, the group was able to tour the Royal kitchens and even meet some of the Royal horses!
