Help with
memory loss If you’ve noticed an older relative may be struggling to remember things, we have a range of products that can help them with everyday life
After spending time with your loved ones over the festive season, you may have picked up on a few signs that their mental health isn’t quite what it used to be. If they’re older than 65 and seem to be becoming increasingly forgetful, it could be an early sign of dementia. Having a problem with memory loss isn’t the only
common early symptom of dementia. Some of the other things you may have noticed include the following:
• Not being able to concentrate • Having difficulties doing normal, everyday things • Struggling to follow a conversation or find the right word • Being confused about the day and the time •Mood changes
According to the NHS, these are symptoms of mild cognitive impairment, and are not severe enough to be diagnosed as dementia. Some people have these symptoms and don’t get any worse. However others will go on to develop dementia, which is why it’s important that your relative sees their GP.
Simple solutions In the meantime there are lots of things you can do to help make their lives – and yours – easier. Our Unforgettable range is designed to help people living with memory loss and dementia, as well as those who care for them. First, to help you understand what dementia is and how
you can support your relative, our book A Family Guide to Dementia (£7.99) is indispensable. It offers practical advice and ideas from those who have themselves experienced caring for someone with dementia.
