LIVE 24-SEVEN THE MALDIVES BLUE LAGOONS & SOFT WHITE SANDS...

Located in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is a surreal land of blue lagoons and soft white sands awash in an ocean of teal and indigo. Comprising 26 natural atolls and around 1190 islands and sandbanks, this is a place that offers a peace and tranquillity that is unrivalled by other destinations; it’s a place to relax and unwind, honeymoon, or for those that love underwater activities, the snorkelling, diving and deep sea fishing are also the main reasons to visit. You can swim next to so many different species of fish that it’s hard to keep count.

Turkish Airlines have flights to Male via Istanbul; book their business class fares and you’ll enjoy the delights of on-board chefs, as well as access to one of the most coveted airport lounges in the world. It’s so good that travellers have missed

flights whilst taking in the culinary delights of the lounge!

With over 100 resorts to choose from, plus 20 more expected this year, the difficulty is in deciding where to stay? Some are more intimate than others and also offer all-inclusive options, which are a good idea for those that enjoy a tipple or two, as drinks in the Maldives aren’t cheap thanks to taxes!

Having stayed at several resorts, we’ve picked out a couple that you may want to consider…

KURAMATHI…

A favourite of our editor Katie, this island boasts fabulous marine life to include sharks, rays, moray eels and much, much more. It also features an eco-centre, as the residents take their surroundings seriously, much to the visitors’ benefit. For foodies it has to be number one! There are many restaurants on this island, to include dedicated steak, fish, Indian, Thai and Italian restaurants. You can also while away the hours in the loft bar, Havana Club Wine Bar & Cigar Bar, look at the stars in the Sky Bar or for fans of bubbles there’s even a champagne loft! So whilst the island doesn’t appear large, and isn’t, you can walk it easily, you are spoilt for choice on where to hang out and dine and for that reason you never feel like the island is busy, even when it’s at full capacity! Water bungalows, beach villas and a luscious spa complete the experience…bliss!
