OFF SEASON PROGRAMMES AT CORE CLINICS

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO STAY ON TOP OF YOUR GAME IN THE OFF SEASON?

Many keen sportspeople think nothing of spending hundreds of pounds on new sports clothing and equipment (golf clubs, running shoes, bicycles) or on golf swing assessments and bike fits, but invest very little in making sure their own body is fit and ready for the new season.

New kit or a bike or golf club fit will not help you to achieve the results you’re looking for if your body is lacking in strength and stability, if you’re managing around injuries or pain problems, or your movement patterns aren’t optimal.

Whether your passion is golf, cycling, triathlon, running or any other sport that’s currently ‘off season’ the team at Core Clinics have a number of bespoke ‘Off Season’ packages that can be tailored to your needs and goals.

WHY SHOULD YOU DO AN OFF-SEASON PROGRAMME - WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Jennifer Disney BSc, Sports therapist and head of the Massage therapy team at Core:

Sports people often spend many hours training with a coach or club-mates, in order to compete in their chosen sport each year and to try to break their records of the previous season - pushing their personal boundaries and aiming higher and higher each time. It is therefore very important to allow the body to heal and have an ‘off season’ before starting all over again!

This ‘off season’ can be managed in different ways. Some choose to do nothing except rest and enjoy time away from sport until a week or so before the new season and then start to build up their pace whilst competing. The disadvantage of this approach is that you’re unlikely to hit top form until the end of the season once you’ve got back up to speed.

The slightly more savvy start several weeks beforehand with body rehabilitation and strength and conditioning, so that by the start of the season for their sport they are already well on their way to last season’s best results.

This is where the team at Core can help you. By assessing your full muscular skeletal system for any injuries, joint restrictions or potential problems, and discussing your goals in detail, we can then prepare a complete plan of rehab along with strength and conditioning which is tailored to your sport and your body.
