The figurative art of Scott Kennedy celebrates both the wonders of the outdoor world and the joys of home, offering visual stimuli that inspire truth, reality and hope. His dynamic brush strokes and meticulous details capture timeless, transformative moments. Kennedy’s frequent childhood


camping trips with his father instilled a reverence for the outdoors, while lessons with his artist mother taught him line, color and perspective. He majored in art at Colorado State University, and then drew upon his whitewater rafting and other wilder- ness experiences to paint wild places and the creatures that inhabit them, including people that respect nature. Kennedy gradually transitioned


from watercolors to acrylics in order to widely share the joys of camping, hiking, dog sledding, fishing and family. “Acrylic colors can be layered so that they remind me of stained glass,” he explains, “inspiring me to paint images that are more intimate, as well as majestic.” Let It Shine is rich in Biblical


symbolism. “My work is not necessarily done in terms of religious imagery,” remarks Kennedy, “but in a way that is reflective of a Christ-centered world view where there exists… the hope of a renewed and perfectly restored nature.”

Unity Church of Raleigh welcomes everyone to two inspiring Unity services celebrating the Christmas season with candlelight and music! The Twelve Powers Christmas Candlelight Service at 7pm on Sunday, Decem- ber 17 uses the Twelve Spiritual Powers/Abilities present in each of us to remind us of our innate Divinity and the amazing


gifts we bring to the world. The holy (and wholly beautiful!) service is a blend of special holiday music, readings and the sacred candle-lighting. The evening ends with festive fellowship around a hospitality table laden with Christmas goodies! Free childcare is available. The New Year in Unity signifies a


letting go of old ideas and ways of doing things that no longer serve us, and a rebirth of a bright, new consciousness – the powerful Christ Consciousness that dwells in all of us and brings us our good. Join us this holy-day season at our New Year’s Eve, Burning Bowl Service at 10:30am on Sunday, December 31, and be ready to step out on our journey into 2018, ready and willing to embrace all the good that Spirit has to offer – prosper- ity, health, loving relationships, peace and meaning.
