FEATURE: GREEN BUSINESS

Cofton Holidays The award-winning holiday park near Dawlish has successfully woven sustainability throughout its business. Holder of the Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award for 16 years and counting, Cofton’s management has built on its environmental credentials on 2017 with the installation of a £0.5m biomass boiler and district heating system. The biomass hub uses locally

sourced woodchip in place of fossil fuels to deliver heat and hot water to the 4,800 sq ft leisure and dining complex, park cottages, as well as major shower and toilet blocks, saving at least 750 tonnes of CO2 per year while producing an average of 1.9 million kWh of energy. Alongside its use of compostable

VegWare, solar panels and on-site cardboard baling, Cofton’s commitment to building a sustainable business has carried it to the finals of the Devon Tourism Awards in the Sustainable Tourism category.

‘Companies

are increasingly embedding green principles at the heart of their strategy’

Palstone Lodges Palstone Lodges offers holiday home owners the unique opportunity to hide away on the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park in contemporary, ecological cedar lodges. In contrast to many developers, Palstone’s extensive landscaped grounds were not an afterthought for

owners, Matt and Sally Morgan. With a lifelong passion for gardening, Matt designed the scheme layout around established specimen trees, shrubs and grasses,

creating a unique environment that boasts a David Bellamy Conservation Award and holds British Beekeepers Association Honey Bee Friendly status.

Absolute PR & Marketing managing director, Rachael Whitson, said: “Among our expanding portfolio of clients across the south west, we are keenly aware of the growing importance of ethical and sustainable business. Prompted perhaps by our privileged surroundings in Devon, companies are increasingly embedding green principles at the heart of their strategy and the county is fast becoming a hub for sustainable business.” Absolute specialises in public relations and

marketing communications campaigns targeting businesses and consumers in the South West and throughout the UK. With decades of combined experience in marketing, publishing, journalism and PR, the team at Absolute ensures clients’ messages are at the forefront of the minds of those who matter.
