The Autumn Litter Pick was held on Sunday 8th October. A very big thanks to those who came to help. We had exceptional support again from the Upton Guides, with 14 Guides helping out along with two leaders and four parents. In total there were 24 volunteers out in the streets giving up their time to make our community better. Ten bags of litter were collected, together with various miscellaneous items such as a cycle tyre. It would be wonderful if we could increase the numbers for future picks and we would ask as many people as possible to look out for the dates and remember we keep the time we spend on the pick to two hours. If anyone can do an hour that would be great too.

One issue that came out of the litter pick was that a large number of dog poo bags were found left lying around in different places. The Trailway South was particularly bad for this. We would urge all dog owners to hang onto the bag until they fi nd a proper bin and if there are problems regarding bins being full, let us know and we will get them emptied.

The next meeting of the Keep Upton Tidy Group will be at 6pm on Wednesday 1st November at the Council Offi ces at Morland Way. We are delighted that we will be joined by Su of Dorset Dogs Trust and we will be discussing how we can work together to avoid problems of dog fouling in Upton. If anyone would like to attend they would be most welcome. If you would like to come, please contact one of the offi cers above to make sure we are aware you are coming and to ensure access to the meeting room. Just to confi rm we are always delighted to see new faces, even as a one off to see what we do or bring up a litter concern. Meanwhile thanks to all those who have been looking after their areas or making sure litter gets to a bin.

Finally, we would ask residents to be vigilant and advise the above named offi cers of any litter, fl y-tipping, dog fouling or overgrown pathways (or bins that have not been emptied) and we will do our best to resolve the problem.
