November 15 Life in the Victorian Workhouse Wateringbury village hall, Tonbridge Road Wateringbury Local History Society presents a talk by local historian Peter Ewart. Peter grew up in Rye and is well-versed in the history of villages and coastal communities in Kent and East Sussex. He is a prolific speaker and this talk about life in the workhouse is bound to be a popular draw. Admission £3. From 7.40pm to 10.10pm.

Guided circular walk, village green, Headcorn Maidstone Ramblers Walk – A moderate 10-mile circular walk starting from Headcorn village green and taking in Chickenden Farm, Sinkhurst Green, Little and Great Wadd, Frittenden and Waterman Quarter. There will be a lunch stop at The Bell & Jorrocks pub in Frittenden, where food is available. Assistance dogs only.
November 18 Family Arts Award Day – The Egyptians Maidstone Museum Children aged five and over can gain a Discover Arts Award through the museum’s “Discover in a Day” package. Children, with a parent or guardian, investigate different art forms, find out about the museum’s Egyptian collection, create a piece of art and share their work – all in the space of a day. Limited availability, so early booking is essential. One adult can work with up to three children and all resources are provided. A museum certificate is awarded on completion of the day and the official Arts Award certificate will follow. Bring a packed lunch or eat in the museum café. Tickets are £20.
