Chair Yoga. 11am-12n. Taught by Jaqueline Hepler. Chair yoga is used as a tool to make yoga poses accessible to everyone! Chair yoga is a practice that modifies yoga poses so that they can be done while seated in a chair or standing using a chair for support. These modi- fications make yoga accessible to people who cannot stand or lack the mobility to move eas- ily from standing to seated to supine positions. Many of the basic body mechanics of the indi- vidual postures are retained, no matter the stance of the practitioner. While seated on chairs, students can do versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild backbends. Chair yoga is an excellent way to relax from head to toe. This flow is also perfect for those wanting a quick way to stretch your body and relieve tension. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can also enjoy other health benefits of yoga, including improved strength, flexibility and muscle tone, better breathing habits, reduction of stress and im- prove mental clarity, enhance stress and pain management, better sleep and a sense of well- being.
