The Post • Chamber of Commerce Welcome to the regular

column of the KINGSBRIDGE & SALCOMBE Chamber of Commerce and Business Club...

LINKING LOCAL BUSINESS Local business owner? Don’t miss out. O

ne of the best known new start-ups in the area is Salcombe Gin who have made quite a splash in the Gin scene. We’re very pleased that during

September they are celebrating their first birthday - huge congratulations to Angus, Howard, Andrea and the team, your success is well deserved. Rather than descend upon them en masse, the KSCC have arranged a special Business Club with them on 21st November followed by a meal at Island Street Bar & Grill. We’re expecting a lively evening as you may imagine.

In October we are looking

forward to returning to the Oyster Shack, Bigbury. At this event we’ll be launching our new website and talking to the Devon Chamber as well as introducing a very determined young sportsman and indulging in some all important networking. Following a recent meeting, one of our newer members advised that she’d talked to another business owner that she wanted to work with. Within 24 hours of the KSCC Business Club they had met again and a contract had been signed. It may not always be so easy but if we can make the first introductions for you it definitely helps. Our Business Clubs take an hour, if you haven’t been before you’re missing out. Contact us at info@kingsbridge-salcombe- chamber.co.uk and try one out.

I write these articles as the secretary of the

Kingsbridge and Salcombe Chamber of Commerce, a group of local business owners with whom I’ve had the pleasure to work with for the past few years. The businesses involved include everyone from those we’ve all heard of to new startups who you’ll get to know in the not too distant future. From sole traders to the bigger employers in the area, from teenagers to (much loved) old timers. Everyone I meet works exceptionally hard and without exception they deserve the best that life can give them. Individually you may not know them but I guarantee you’ll know how they contribute directly to

our towns, communities and our lives. I don’t know of any local event that doesn’t have at least one of our Members involved, they are good people. The thing about our Members is that the vast majority of the time they don’t like to accept praise for everything they do. Well, I’d like to tell each and every one of our Members out there that you are amazing - what you give to our communities is worth more than gold and I’m very proud to work with all of you.
