Church News News from St Nicholas and St Hubert’s...
I am delighted to have been recently appointed as the new parish priest for Corfe Mullen.
In our fi rst few weeks here, my husband Charles and I have enjoyed discovering something of this beautiful area through walking, cycling and even by taking our canoe on the Stour. We are beginning to get to know some of you and really look forward to meeting many more of you in the years to come. We have moved here from a parish in Bath. Moving is not new to us having spent over 30 years in various RAF postings both here and abroad, where Charles served as an engineer offi cer. Before ordination I nursed in a hospice and practiced as a counsellor.
Corfe Mullen parish is fortunate to have two very different church buildings. The ancient church of St Hubert provides a beautiful and traditional setting for regular worship and special occasions, while the modern church of St Nicholas provides the space for both regular and larger worship services as well as providing a community space for wide and varied activities. My hope is that all who come into both buildings for whatever reason will fi nd a very warm welcome.
It is at this time of year the church focuses on thanksgiving as we celebrate harvest. As we hear so often of troubles unfolding in the news we are perhaps more than ever aware of how much we have to be thankful for, not least for living in a beautiful and relatively safe area.
It would be lovely to welcome you to a harvest thanksgiving celebration on Sunday 24th September. We will begin from 9.30am with ‘bacon butties’ and coffee and then hold an all age harvest celebration service from 10-11am at St Nicholas. There will also be a traditional Holy Communion service at St Hubert at 8am.
