The Summer Reading Challenge has already started, where children are challenged to read six books over the course of the summer holidays. This year’s theme is Animal Agents, where the children are asked to fi nd out who committed a crime in the library! It’s not too late to join in the fun.
When you sign up you will be given a collector folder, and as you read each book you will collect stickers. Some of them are scratch and sniff! Can you use the stickers to solve the crime? When you have read all six books you will get a medal from the library, and a certifi cate will be sent to school in the autumn term.
We will be running some craft and activity sessions over the summer holidays to tie in with the Reading Challenge and some board game sessions aimed at children and their friends and families. Come along to play a game with our friendly young volunteers!

Mo & Sue, two of the
Purbeck Good Neighbours’ Coordinators, attended an event that was encouraging volunteering opportunities
for local residents in Swanage and surrounding villages. It was really good for them to meet up with Richard Drax MP, Bill Trite and Kim Gallagher who are all great supporters of the Purbeck Good Neighbours Project.
Purbeck Good Neighbours is very much involved with supporting the Swanage & Wareham Dementia Friendly Communities, who would like us to promote the Rex Cinema’s special showings for people living with dementia and their carers. The next Golden Moments at the Rex Cinema is showing Goldfi nger on 6th September. Doors open 9.45am for light refreshments and the fi lm will be shown at 10.30am. £5 per person. All welcome.
Call Purbeck Good Neighbours on 01929 424363 if you need a helping hand or would like to volunteer.
