Welcome to the August issue


Congratulations to the organisers for some excellent events in July. The Music and Arts Festival is showcased on page 6 and as the Carnival itself just missed our print deadline, it will be covered in the September issue.


Welcome to some new advertisers in the Upton Link this month – A+ Supplies (pg9) offers unique wall and floor tiles, while Marsden Flooring (pg31) offers carpets, vinyls and laminates; and South Coast Windows returns on page 29.


Lytchett Minster and Upton Town Council is looking for new town councillors and new sponsors for local flowerbeds and troughs (pg10). Sadly, it also reports of an increase in vandalism, so please report any that you see.


There are plenty of events on in August, it’s the annual Horticultural Show at the Community Centre on the 19th – all are welcome to visit and try their luck by exhibiting in the various classes available (pg20). Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s Companion Dog Show is on Sunday 6th August (pg28), the Gallery Upstairs at Upton Country Park has new exhibitions every few weeks (pg28), and the Lytchett United Royal British Legion is hosting a variety of musical acts in August and September (pg35).


Jazzercise fitness classes continue during August (pg27) and, looking ahead, there are some new classes starting in September. Tony is offering Tai Chi, yoga and meditation (pg27) and adult swimming lessons are available at The Junction (pg16).
