Specialist property advisers, Vail Williams, has promoted two senior property advisers to equity partner as part of its 2017 round of promotions. Russell Miller (right) and Mike Greenwood (left), who are based at the firm’s offices in Portsmouth and Southampton, became equity partners on June 1. Miller joined Vail Williams as a property development graduate in 2002. He advises on property investment disposals and acquisitions, with specific expertise in property development appraisals and expert witness work. In his new role, Miller will take on responsibility for business development throughout the Solent area, ensuring that the firm achieves its ambitious growth plans. Greenwood joined the firm in 2010 from Hughes Ellard. With over 15 years’ experience, he specialises in commercial property valuation, property development, rent reviews, lease renewal negotiations, and break clause matters and he took on the role of regional managing partner for the Solent region 12 months ago.


Regional law firm Trethowans has strengthened its team, with three members of staff qualifying as chartered legal executives. In Southampton, Nicola Piper (pictured) has qualified as a chartered legal executive. She joined Trethowans four years ago as a legal secretary, having studied her law degree in Bournemouth. Also qualifying is Rebecca Davey, who works in the agriculture and rural property team in Salisbury. Completing the hat trick is James Gleisner, who has been promoted from a paralegal to a chartered legal executive in the company’s personal injury team in Southampton.


Moore Blatch has announced the appointment of Chris Ake (pictured) as finance director and Archie Sherbrooke as partner specialising in commercial property Ake will work with the Board and management team at Moore Blatch to shape the Partnerships’ strategic direction and drive forward its business plan.


His appointment follows the retirement of John Davies. Ake joins from Bevan Brittan, a top 100 UK law firm, where he was finance director for over five years. Prior to that he held a number of senior finance roles including nine years at Mitie Group plc, a leading facilities management company. Sherbrooke joins from Charles Russell Speechlys LLP. With an emphasis on investment transactions including acquisitions and disposals of multi-let buildings, hotels and retail property. He has acted for a diverse range of clients including UK institutional property and investment funds, trusts, banks, corporate occupiers, family offices, charities and overseas investors.

Blake Morgan partner and employment expert Sarah Peacock has been selected as a member of The Reward 100 for 2017. The Reward 100, sponsored by Cintra HR and Payroll services, is an index of the 100 most dedicated and influential leaders in the pay and reward space, encompassing payroll, HR, workplace pensions, employee benefits and employment law. For almost five years, Peacock, based at Blake Morgan’s Southampton office, has provided monthly articles for Payroll World magazine, on various employment law topics.


NatWest has appointed Mairead Taylor as director of corporate and commercial banking for Dorset. Taylor replaces Steve Murcer, who is retiring after more than 40 years with NatWest. The bank has also merged its corporate and commercial teams in Dorset and both have moved into premises in Link House, West Street, Poole. The new team includes corporate relationship directors Mikael Rosen (right) and James Finch (left), who will focus on Dorset’s largest and fastest-growing businesses.
