Good Food
The great news is that it also advocates making more of your meals, enjoying them with family and friends, drinking red wine (in moderation) and exercise …. sounding good so far? So why not grab a glass and head outside for some al fresco dining and use the summer to make a seismic change in your eating habits?
Taking a shared interest in making
a meal for yourself is now shown to promote health, with latest research suggesting: “Couples who cook together tend to be leaner, more energetic, and healthier overall.”
Get fresh
With such a diverse range of fresh, seasonal fruit and veg and an endless supply of leafy salads available at this time of year, it couldn’t be easier. Mix them with deli delights such as feta cheese, black olives and sun-dried tomatoes at home, or take advantage of an increasing number of restaurants promoting the summer food sensation with offerings including outside pizza ovens and smokeries. Brexit may be on the cards, but

Greeks eat very little red meat and average nine servings a day of fruits and vegetables rich in anti-oxidants.
Grains in the Mediterranean are typically eaten unrefined, while bread is eaten plain or dipped in olive oil — not with butter or margarine.
Nuts are another part of a healthy Mediterranean diet (no more than a handful a day). They contain mostly non-saturated fat and some linolenic acid (a type of omega-3 fatty acid)
that helps decrease blood-clotting, improves the health of your blood vessels and moderates blood pressure.
The health effects of alcohol have been debated for many years, and some doctors are reluctant to encourage consumption because of the health consequences of excessive drinking. However, alcohol – in moderation – has been associated with a reduced risk of heart disease in some studies.
