“We now have plaques that are
electronic ‘windows’ into time, not just memorials, and are available in a dozen different languages that can be updated easily, making them a ‘living’ history that is owned by us all and available on the street.”
Joe Taylor was just one of those we
met from the 1,651 visitors who have used the plaques to take a peek into the past in the last year. He said: “This technology brings history right up to date for my generation. The possibilities are endless.”
The idea is now being explored by other towns in Kent.

remembers: “There were lots of fans, but the boys were still able to walk around without any problems and drove about in a conspicuous psychedelic Rolls Royce.
“During filming, Paul walked around with a megaphone getting stroppy, because he liked to be in charge, and got annoyed when the boys acted up.”

He remembers: “We jumped in the air because I knew that was the only way we’d stand out and you can just see our faces in the film. It was a memorable day, although the filming was a bit of a shambles and the script was written day by day.”
