Corfe Mullen Carnival 2017!
The 51st Corfe Mullen Carnival was another great success!
With music and entertainment throughout the afternoon, children and adults alike were seen having a wonderful time. One of the main highlights was the appearance by the 2015 World Darts Champion, Scotty ‘Dog’ Mitchell, who at one point was jumped over by the Tigers Children Motorcycle Display Team.
For the second year running, the carnival committee had organised various free and reduced cost activities for children to partake in, and there was a welcome return of ‘The Gartell Arms Bar’ and the food village.
Dave Mills, Chairman of the Carnival Committee, said: “It’s great to see such a diverse mix of groups from our community all joining together and having fun at the carnival. I would especially like to thank our main sponsors, Richards TEAM Estate Agents, and our major sponsors, Lesley Shand Funeral Services, Seyward Window Co Ltd, M B Wilkes and the Corfe Mullen Parish Council. The Carnival has received welcome support from a number of local businesses who have been able to fi nancially assist this year’s event. Finally I would like to thank all of the Carnival helpers and the committee for their commitment, enthusiasm and continued support, which has ensured that the event was a great success.”
The proceeds of Carnival 2017 will go to the Green Island Holiday Trust and the Corfe Mullen Youth Trust. There was confi dence from the organisers that the street collection would raise lots of money for these deserving causes. Final fi gures will be published in next month’s editorial.
On arrival at the recreation ground, Carnival Princess Maisie Thick and her two attendants offi cially declared Carnival open. The next engagement for Maisie will be later in the year, when she will present the charities with cheques for the money raised by this year’s event.
All in all, Carnival Day in Corfe Mullen was another huge success.
