THE CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLES) 5TH VOLUNTEER BATTALION OFFICER’S GREEN CLOTH HELMET C. 1884-1908, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of special pattern displaying a Guelphic crown over thistle sprays these mounted with a Sphinx and a China Dragon, in the voided centre a mullet over a strung bugle horn, double title scroll below ‘5thVolr. Battn’ ‘The Scottish Rifles’, buff leather sweatband with quilted silk lining, the plate is original to the helmet, very good overall condition

PANCRAS)OFFICER’S BLUE CLOTH HELMET C. 1908-14, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of special pattern (KK 1849) being smaller than standard issues and featuring a crowned star with laurel overlays, title circle ‘XIX County of London St. Pancras’, in the centre on a ground of black velvet an ornate silver badge featuring the arms of the Borough of St. Pancras, across the base of the laurels a silver scroll ‘South Africa 1900-02’, buff leather sweatband and retailer’s label for ‘Hodgson & Morgan, Woolwich’, the plate not original to the helmet, no gilt remains to the spike and quadrant otherwise very good condition
