THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT OFFICER’S BLUE CLOTH HELMET C. 1881-1901, the blue cloth skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a silver two towered castle with scroll above ‘Gibraltar’ and a Key and scroll below ‘Talavera’, silver title scroll ‘The Northamptonshire Regiment’, buff leather sweatband and quilted ivory silk lining, the plate not original to the helmet, the chin chain incorrectly relined, the sweatband with one split and the silk lining perished, one small moth hole otherwise sound overall condition

NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS VOLUNTEER BATTALION OFFICER’S FUR CAP C. 1884 -1914, a good quality early period example of brown hue, the frontal badge in silver plate being a fused grenade bearing on the ball the motto ‘Quo Fata Vocant’ enclosing St. George slaying the Dragon, red over white cut feather side hackle, silver plated graduated chin chain, black leather sweat band, the frontal badge adorned with a period St. George’s Day double rose (red and white) in cut linen, some fur loss near the side hackle area otherwise good overall condition for its age £500-700
