Angels on an adventure M
embers of Ark Angels WI enjoyed an exciting trip to Blackwell Adventure
outdoor activity centre, where they tried out archery, negotiated an obstacle course and took on the high 3G swing. Their previous meeting involved
“quiz and fizz” and the AGM, and the next one – on July 10 – will see the group take in the local scenery in the Alvechurch hills, followed by a well-deserved stop at the pub. They are keen for guests and new members to come and join in. Meetings take place on the
second Monday of every month, 7.30–9.30pm, generally at the Ark, Alvechurch. For more information, email

Renew love of rugby
K
ings Norton Rhinos RFC, based at Hopwood, are looking for boys who will be starting
school year 10 in September to join their successful under-15s team for the 2017-18 season. Many sports typically see a drop off in numbers from 14 years of age, and the Rhinos are looking to recruit play- ers in order to strengthen their team and continue to give boys a positive experience of sport. The four coaches for this age
group provide a balance of experi- ence, technical knowledge, fun and enthusiasm. A high percentage of the squad have reached County
standard with Greater Birmingham and Worcestershire, and many others have attended the Developing Player Pathway at Worcester Warriors. All players receive personal
feedback tailored to their individual aspirations. The qualified and DBS- cleared coaching staff also place high importance on the social develop- ment of young players, ensuring a safe and friendly environment with great team spirit. The club is seeking players who
are experienced or new to the sport, and those looking to renew their
enthusiasm for a sport that builds teamwork, respect, discipline and sportsmanship. KNRFC has a thriving Clubhouse with bar, catering and changing facili- ties at Ash Lane Hopwood. Free pre-season training starts at 6.30pm on Tuesday July 11 for U15s, while informal touch and tag rugby sessions for all junior age groups are at 6pm on Fridays from July 30. For further information on all age
groups, including girls and seniors rugby, visit
www.knrfc.co.uk or call Simon Thompson on 07968 424585.

Could you use a marquee?
IF YOU’RE seeking a party venue for September, Barnt Green Cricket Club could have the solution. The club will have a marquee set up for its annual ball (September 23), and usually hires it out the previous night for private functions – but the original hirer has pulled out, leaving a large hole in fundraising as well as an empty marquee! The 280-capacity marquee has
tables, chairs and an alcohol licence. The usual rate is £2,000 but this is negotiable. If anyone could make use of it on the night of Friday Sep- tember 22, please email
manjugour@hotmail.co.uk
