Village Drinks D

iscerning drinkers will be ex- cited by the opening of Village Vineyards, a new Barnt Green

shop with a huge range of wines, beers and spirits. Owned and run by Aman and

Sarah Mehan – with a little help from Hugo, the friendly Dobermann – the business is proudly independent, meaning it can provide a personal and friendly service. The couple, who also run a suc-

cessful shop in the Wolverhamp- ton area, visited Barnt Green and decided it would be a great place to expand their business. Aman founded the original

shop at the age of 17, when he took over an old Post Office. He then rebranded and revamped the store, increased his alcohol range,

and has kept up the hard work by making sure he stocks the latest products, always asking for custom- ers’ feedback and offering competi- tive pricing. Aman and Sarah are passionate about widening their knowledge of spirits, beers and wines, and have built a great relationship with reps and merchants through the years. With such an impressive range of

wines to choose from, customers might need a hand deciding what to buy. As well as expert advice from Aman and Sarah, you can enjoy a

wine tasting experience in store with the “Enomatic” machine (below left), allowing you to try before you buy – the system holds red, white and rosé at the perfect tasting temperatures. Currently there are around 80

different gins in store, offering some unusual flavours – plus about 100 whiskies, with many more on the way. There’s a great selection of exclusive craft beers and ales from Beavertown, Tiny Rebel, Cloudwater, Bathams, Enville, Sadlers, Marstons and many more – and you can also buy authentic Havana cigars.

Village Vineyards is launching some tasting events in the near future to show off their range of products. All details will be available on the calendar page of the website and in store. “We aim to deliver the best range

of drinks from around the world at the best prices,” says Sarah. “We hope to build a great relationship with our customers and Barnt Green villagers.” 25A Hewell Road
