What is your role at the Chamber? I am responsible for the operational day-to-day running of Devon Chamber looking after the team of Membership, International Trade, Events, Communication and Finance. A huge part of my time is spent project managing the large scale events such as Devon Chamber’s Excellence in Devon Conference, Chamber Awards and Devon Business Show as well as seeking new commercial activities and partnerships.
What is the best part of your role? The variety, no two days are the same! I feel particularly privileged to be able engage with a vast variety of businesses across the county of all sizes and sectors on a daily basis. There are some real hidden gems in Devon and it’s always very exciting to see businesses thrive and grow.
What are your aims as part of the Chamber over the next 12 months? Moving forward the Chamber has developed its three year corporate plan which envisages developing its events and influencing as well as developing the International Trade activities. It also wishes to develop its relationship with other business representative organisations in the County in order to raise the profile of Devon businesses regionally and nationally.
What did you do before working at the Chamber? Prior to the Chamber I served ten years in the Royal Air Force as a logistics caterer based in Aylesbury, Norfolk and Hampshire. I am incredibly proud to have served and key achievements include a tour of Iraq obtaining an Op Telic Medal, competing in the combined forces culinary challenges and the pleasure of serving Her Majesty The Queen.
