FEATURE:MADE IN DEVON

Historic law firm assists with hotel renovation plan

The Sunny Cliff Hotel, located on the Salcombe estuary, has been purchased as part of a multi-million pound project which will see the hotel converted into six luxury apartments. Plymouth law firm, GA Solicitors, advised Salcombe based Beacon

Homes Ltd on the purchase of the hotel, turning the deal around in a just a few short weeks. Work has now commenced on the 21-bedroom hotel which

boasts its own swimming pool and moorings. The conversion is expected to take around 15 months to complete and will create six, two and three-bedroom apartments. Tony Dupreez (pictured), Associate of GA Solicitors and

the commercial property solicitor who advised on the purchase, said: “This was a relatively complex matter due to the extent of the property, land and moorings. It is a fantastic building with beautiful views over the estuary. Salcombe is one of the most desirable locations in the country and there is no doubting these apartments will be very well received. The fact that each apartment will have its own mooring adds even more appeal.” Nick Alford, Director of Beacon Homes Ltd, was keen to make the most

of the waterside location: “Salcombe is one of the most popular towns in the UK and opportunities like the Sunny Cliff Hotel are a rarity. Planning permission has already been granted, so work will be underway this spring, using well-known local contractors and suppliers. We hope to have the conversion completed by summer 2018.” GA Solicitors has more than 200 years of heritage and employs one of the largest commercial property teams in Plymouth.
