Tovil killing: three are facing murder charges


DETECTIVES investigating the violent death of a homeless Ro- manian man in Tovil have charged three teenagers with his murder. Alex McDonald (18), of Regency


Place, Maidstone, Jimmy Buckley (19), of Capell Close, Coxheath, Charlie White (18), of no fixed abode, are all charged with the murder of Razvan Sirbu (pictured), between May 6 and 7. All three are in custody and are


due before Maidstone Crown Court in July.A trial date has been reserved for December 4. Mr Sirbu (21), of no fixed ad-


dress,was found dead in Crisbrook Meadow in the Loose Valley Con- servation Area at 7.15am on Sun- day, May 7, 2017. According to police, a post mortem examination revealed Mr Sirbu had died from “blunt force trauma” to the head and body. McDonald and Buckley have


been remanded in custody and ap- peared beforeMedway Magistrates on May 16 and remanded until May 23.


Two boys, aged 14 and 15, who


were also arrested in connection with the incident have been bailed pending further enquiries until June 8. It is understood Mr Sirbu had been sleeping rough behind houses on Tovil Hill, but had more recently acquired a tent. News of his death stunned the


local community and floral tributes were laid close to where he died. Mr Sirbu’s family described him as “a son who was always willing

ment: “My only son Razvan was full of mercy and empathy; he would always want to help others in need. Razvan was very shy and very good. He was very well be- haved and listened to people in- tently.He had a lot of love from me and my wider family. Razvan was my only child, so he was spoilt by the whole family. “He was also the only grandson

said it was "business as usual" while Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) got the all clear to use its emails and website. An MBC spokesman said: “While Maidstone Council has been unaffected our ICT team has been working hard over the week- end. We have taken some minor precautionary steps and are con- tinuing to monitor the situation very closely. Customers can com- municate via email andwebsite, al- though some online forms might be unavailable. Should the position change we may have to interrupt services at short notice.”
