FACTS


Operators must meet standard UK navigational marking schedule outlined by the international association of marine aids to navigation and lighthouse authorities (IALA) recommendations for ‘marking of man-made offshore structures 0 - 139’ as set out in windfarms d’ marine licence.


Windfarm operators aids to navigation (AtoN) are required to perform to their category of availability percentage laid out there in d’ marine licence at any randomly chosen time.


The categorisation of AtoN are determined by navigational significance for example traffic density and waterway significance.


CHALLENGE


Windfarm owners are faced with many challenges to increase availability and production and reduce costs, all while performing safer than last year with higher levels of quality. With the wind energy industry maturing and windfarms coming out of warranty the optimisation of O&M strategies has never been so important.


Vendors are required to support owners to minimise costs through onsite collaborations allowing operators to schedule work together.


Consistency in annual maintenance programmes to reduce service costs and component failure rates, while ensuring AtoN remain compliant. The ability to identify early signs of failure and emergency call out as a result of non- compliance with availability criteria.


SOLUTION


Pharos Marine & Sims Systems (PMSS) to be incorporated into annual maintenance programmes, component repair or replacement parts to maintain module life management, provide standardised documentation control to maintain safe systems at work and compliance with regulatory bodies.
