Just A Note! As I write this, spring seems far away. Te First Coast has seen
and felt the cold of the Polar Vortex, the Arctic Swoop and the low temperatures of the current icy winter storm. Te good news is that in typical Florida fashion, the forecast for the upcoming weekend is 80 degrees and we can celebrate spring’s arrival on our beautiful beaches. I am sure I won’t be the only mom ushering children out of the house and onto the sand to enjoy the beginning of the new season.
Spring is the perfect time for new beginnings. If your beginning
includes a new home (page 28), a new business (page 31) or a lovely nursery for the new baby (page 10)—we have ideas and information to help you get off to a great start.
One of our staff members was recently blessed to start her family
with the birth of her daughter Chloe (that’s her on the cover). Before Chloe’s arrival, Family! hosted a baby shower for her mom, Tance. With help from creative co-workers, we turned our conference room into a magical venue for the party. See page 37 for treats and tips to transform your next office celebration.
April is Autism Awareness month. As we call attention to this
disorder that affects one in 88 children, we bring you the stories of local families and knowledge from local experts in “A is for Autism” on page 48.
We have received many requests in the past few years to publish
Family! more often than once per quarter. I am proud to announce that as we celebrate our third year we will become a bi-monthly publication beginning with our May/June Issue. We thank all of our readers for your support and enthusiastic responses to each of our issues, so please continue to send us your thoughts, ideas and requests. As we begin this new season, we look forward to providing you, as always, with the information, resources and inspiration to “Celebrate your family life on the First Coast.”
