When JT heard about One

Spark, he knew his foundation’s message needed to be showcased. “He loved the idea [of ] being able to speak about his foundation and his passion.”

JT attended One Spark last

year and was able to spread his foundation’s message. “It was the first year for One Spark, so people didn’t really know what it was,” Judi says. “I’m going to tell you that people are going to know what it is. Tey are going to build this thing each and every year.”

Unfortunately, after One

Spark 2013 JT Townsend passed away, but his foundation lives on. In April 2014, the JT Townsend Foundation will bring their message back to One Spark. By attracting investors, the foundation can help families living on the First Coast, with disabled children and adults, by providing adaptive equipment and financial assistance.

Getting to know the Creators and

their projects is an important part of the festival. Creators’ projects range from art and innovation to music, science and technology. Tis year, Creators have the opportunity to access $300,000 in contributed crowdfunds and cash awards, millions of dollars in capital investments and direct contributions from more than 150,000 attendees and backers.

Last year Jonathon Fletcher and Paul

Nicholson brought their creation, the Apod Project, to One Spark. Te Apod project is “a push to create a company that will design and build a sustainable organic food source in an innovative way utilizing new technologies.” Jonathon says he was inspired by the festival. “Te biggest thing that I took was [that] it’s nice to see…the full side of people, the creative side. It was so nice to see all these people with all these different ideas.”

Tis year, the duo plan to showcase a new

project called Florida Solar Farm. “We’re there mainly for exposure and we think it’s a valuable endeavor. We’re there to support what they’re doing,” says Jonathon. “A lot of crowdfunding is online, but it’s cool to have an in-person one and it’s neat to be able to see it and meet the people who are working on it and talk to them.”
