FAMILY FAVOURITES

today! You will not be disappointed. Another outdoor pool that is

worth a visit, and different from the one in Dartmouth is Shoalstone Outdoor Pool near Berry Head in brixham. it is definitely worth the drive over there because the views from the pool are fabulous and it is like stepping back in time (Shoalstone Pool is referred to as a “ Stunning Art Deco Icon of the South Devon Coastline). This is a salt water pool, that has been open since the late 1800s, but has looked pretty much like it looks today since 1926. It is

maintained and run by the community. We must all try and use facilities like this so that they stay open. You can hire a deckchair here and get a cup of tea in the café and sit and look at the beautiful views of Torbay all day!

Here is a review of other summer activities from previous articles, to jog your memory and give you a few quick ideas of things to do outside in the last few weeks of the summer:

• visit the beach – as a family our favourites are beesands, broadsands and Great Mattiscombe Sands (all for very different reasons)

• Walk to start Point Lighthouse and take a tour (not with toddlers though, as you are not allowed up if you are carrying a child)

• Go for a wander along the banks of the Dart, especially from Dartington or Totnes

• Go on the steam Train to Paignton and visit the Jurassic Playground and beach or get off at Goodrington sands (parts of which are doggy friendly in the summer)

• visit the FSc beach Trailer in the memorial car park on Slapton Sands (everyone will find something interesting here). Equally, walk along the beach or on the boardwalks around the Ley.

• Walk at Berry Head and visit the lovely café and bird hides

• and finally take the castle Ferry to the castle and either pay to go round the Castle (very interesting) or walk to Castle Cove/Sugary Cove.
