Lime

Of all the citrus fruits, lime is the most widely used. Originally from South-East Asia it is now cultivated in many locations around the world, with Mexico being the 2nd largest producer of this zesty fruit (14.5% of the world’s supply, second only to India producing 16%).

Containing far more vitamin C than lemons, Limes increase the body’s immune system and resistance to disease. They help to maintain the health of bones and teeth and prevent damage to the eyes.

Lime juice and lime essential oil are also very beneficial to the skin. Lime rejuvenates and exfoliates dead cells to maintain skin tone and cell turnover and contains the class-1 antioxidants: vitamin C and Flavonoids. Lime also has antiseptic and antibiotic properties.

Lime essential oil is one of the most affordable essential oils and is known for its fresh, uplifting and energizing aroma. It is also said to renew the mind and spirit and cleanse the aura. The essential oil can help lower blood pressure, improve energy, vitality and memory and can reduce the appearance of cellulite.
