Expansion in a recession – surely not….. WHK Services are located in
Dartmouth and until recently only operated throughout the South Hams. They are situated opposite Sainsbury’s and have been recommended by both leading local holiday accommodation agents and private property owners since 2006.
They are fully equipped to carry out complete property management of second or holiday homes that can include:
• Changeover cleaning by vetted, uniformed and insured staff
• 24/7 caretaker service • Key holding • Linen and Laundry services • Pre and post guest liaison • Property maintenance by approved tradesmen • Regular property checks to comply with insurance requirements
• Health and Safety packages to ensure compliance with current legislation
Having built up a reputation over the last 6 years or so for providing ‘that little bit extra’ they were approached by an agent last summer to consider taking their services to Cornwall. The challenge of replicating their success in a new area was one that they just couldn’t pass up on. Throughout the summer and autumn of last year a number of visits to Cornwall were undertaken with a view to understanding the area, the logistics and any differences between Devon and Cornwall in the way properties are serviced. Paul Wright, Director said “After very careful consideration a proposal was tabled and on the 22nd December we were given the news we were hoping for; we had successfully beaten off 3 other companies and were awarded the servicing contract to some 40+ properties in the Looe, Polperro and Downderry areas of Cornwall”.
This is an exciting time for WHK, particularly in the current tight economic climate and they are rightly proud of what they have achieved and the fact that it has also been recognised by agents struggling to find reputable providers of such services. Claire Wright, Director said “historically January and February are normally our quiet times of the year, but not this year though. Since January we have been running a satellite operation in Cornwall and have been focussing on recruitment and getting to know the locals. Meeting the locals is a vital element that all businesses should embark on, particularly one new to an area. The first couple of months have simply flown by but the hard work and dedication of the entire WHK Staff has ensured a smooth transition from the old to the new, paving a way for a bright future in Cornwall.” WHK are not just linked to second or holiday homes; they also provide domestic services to suit. Regular or occasional domestic services can be arranged that can also include the laundering of your bed linen and towels. • Spring or deep cleans • End of tenancy cleans • Building/completion cleans If you need a service of this nature, delivered by the area’s leading providers, but think it will be too expensive, why not give them a call – you might be pleasantly surprised! Finally, to help continue this trend throughout 2013 we are constantly looking for individuals based in South Devon, Looe and Polperro who share our passion for achieving the highest standards possible. If you would like to help us deliver these high standards to holiday home owners, office managers, school heads and private individuals etc. and give “that little bit extra”, we would like to hear from you.
