A carded display of 52 items including an officer's small flat gilt coatee c. 1820 to the Jamaica Militia, large gilt tunics to the 2nd Regiment West Indies, 3rd and 4th West India Regiments, St. Helena Regiment, Uganda Protectorate (VRI), Uganda Protectorate (GRI), Roberts Horse, 5th CEF Battalion, Royal Malta Militia (QVC & KC). Other large size tunics include Australian Commonwealth Forces (EVIIR), Transjordan Frontier Force, Malayan Volunteer Infantry, Umvoti Mounted Rifles (KC), New Zealand Wellington Guard (QVC), Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles, Natal Carabineers (KC), Rhodesia Forces, Canadian Air Force (pre Royal, white metal), RAF Hong Kong, Cadet Company, Military College Canada (QVC). Small white metal tunics, Trinidad Volunteers (QVC), New South Wales Police (QVC), North West Mounted Police (QVC). Large and small tunics to the 48th Highlanders of Canada accompanied by a letter to Lady Aldington 26 November 1964 from the Agent General for Ontario concerning the buttons and discussing the possibility of the Canadian Government securing a landau for the Opening of Parliament and Race Meetings, very good overall condition (52)

INDIAN ARMY BUTTONS. A carded display of 76 items. Pre-Mutiny examples comprise 2 officers' large gilt coatees to the 3rd Bengal NI and 3 officers' small gilt coatees to the 59th Bengal NI and 24th Bengal NI (2). Other officers' large gilts comprise 36th Madras (mounted), 10th Madras, 12th Bengal, 14th Madras, Bombay Staff Corps, Bengal Staff Corps, The Hyderabad Contingent, Bengal Engineers, 39th Bengal (disbanded 1890), Madras Staff Corps, 26th Sikhs (KC), 119th Infantry, Madras Governor's Band, 10th Bengal (1861 - 1903 gilt rubbed). Officers' small gilts include 2nd Madras (2), Bengal Artillery, 35th Sikhs, 13th Bombay, 26th Sikhs (KC), 10th Bengal, Madras Staff Corps (2), 126th Baluchistan Infantry. White metal tunics include Bombay Volunteer Rifles (KC), Bangalore Rifle Volunteers, Sirmoor Valley Light Horse, Assam Valley Light Horse, 51st Sikhs F.F., Kolar Gold Field Volunteers (KC), Upper Burma Volunteers, 16th Cavalry (KC). An officer's rare large black horn example to the 71st Coorg Rifles (1902 - 04 only), black horn example to the Kumaon Rifles (small). A selection of items to His Highness the Nizam of Hyderabad Forces. Together with a brief printed history of the Kolar Gold Field Battalion with an accompanying letter to the then Mrs. Low from Major H.G. Parkyn dated 23.1.1951 and another letter to Mrs. Low from Hubert E. Jeffery dated 15.1.1951 concerning the Kolar Gold Fields History, very good overall condition (79)

Three old carded displays, an interesting selection of post 1902 period, those of interest include large size tunics to 1st, 3rd, 9th, Gurkha Rifles (all black horn), 13th Malabar Battalion, 19th Hyderabad, Mysore Infantry and Mysore Lancers, 6th Gurkha Rifles (blackened metal). Small tunics include examples to The Rajpipla Infantry, Madras Volunteer Guard, Kolar Gold Field Battalion, Mysore Infantry, 2nd Bombay Urban Infantry, 2nd Punjab Regiment, 2nd Gurkha Rifles, Baria State Forces, Royal Garhwal Rifles, 3rd and 8th Gurkhas, 6th Gurkhas (blackened metal ball pattern), 2nd Kashmir Rifles, 17th Dogra Regiment, 14th Punjab Regiment, 6th DCO Lancers, 20th Lancers, Bombay Baroda & Central India Railway Regiment, Cawnpore Regiment, Jodhpur Sardar Risala, 3rd Urban UTC, Poona Volunteers (white metal with QVC but described as Poona Contingent), 1st Hyderabad Lancers and many other interesting items. GEORGE EDWARD PETER THORNEYCROFT 1909 - 1994 was a long standing member of the Conservative Party becoming President of the Board of Trade in 1951, Chancellor of the Exchequer 1957 but resigned in 1958 along with Enoch Powell and Nigel Birch. Returned to the Cabinet in 1960 but lost his seat in the 1966 Election. Received a life peerage and became Chairman of the Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher 1975 - 81.
