you are really unfit jog slowly on the spot at home whilst watching the TV. The effect of puffing hard is to raise your metabolism for several hours which will burn off calories quickly. It will also get you fitter! To summarise, eat healthily but just enough to stop you feeling hungry. Eat most of your food early in the day. No sugar and go easy on the carbs and the alcohol. Do some exercise daily, mix it up and make yourself puff several times a week. Good luck.

ith the weather as it has been, it is difficult to think of the need of sun- glasses. However let’s put gloomy thoughts to one side

and think about the good weather we are going to have (sometime) and also summer breaks we have planned.

Now that people are becoming more aware of the potential

dangers of sunlight, and because sunglasses are a fashion item, wearing them is a pleasure. But if vision correction is needed, in poor lighting the deficiency is more marked because one’s pupil size increases, giving a poorer depth of focus. Thus if sunglasses are worn without prescription, the best vision acuity is greatly penalised. Many modern sunglasses lend themselves

to having prescription lenses put into them and now that polarized lenses are available in most lens types, the wearer can have optimum correction combined with the best protection. At DART OPTICAL we have always been able to provide prescription sunglasses and this year is no exception. We have the new Ted Baker, Rayban, Vogue ranges plus vari- ous other makes which are suitable for most lens types. Needless to say we also have a range of children’s sunglasses many of which are polarized.
