Once you have established the energy of your sacred space, you will want to keep it fresh and alive. One of the easiest ways to do this is to pray or meditate in your sanctuary. The energy of your prayer practice will expand into the universe and re- bound back to you, bringing you a more vital and joyful feeling.

Another way of tending the energy of your sanctuary is to keep fresh objects there, such as fruit, a single stem in a bud vase, or a spray of branches in a beautiful glass container of water. It is important to always have a renewable, changing item in your space. This keeps the energy from becoming stale or stagnant.

Colors have spiritual meanings associated with them. Use colors to evoke the qualities and energies you desire in your life.

Black – Mystery, introspection. Blue – Relaxation, peace, spirituality. Green – Money, healing. Orange – Joy, socializing, work life. Pink – Unconditional love, friendship. Purple – Royalty, power. Red – Strength, passion, courage, creativity. White – Purity, protection. Yellow – Light of the sun, wisdom, happiness.

Keep in mind that this is your space and you have created it to love and honor your- self. Your sincerity is the utmost important ingredient to creating your sacred sanctu- ary. Just as it takes time and energy to make a new home look “lived in”, it will re- quire your continual effort of investing your heart and soul into this creative spiritual process. Your willingness is the beginning of your path to rich rewards, and your sin- cerity and authenticity is what will make your intentions a reality.

You must have a room or a certain hour of the day…a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are, and what you might be. At first you may find nothing’s happening…but if you have a sacred place and use it, take advantage of it, something will happen. Joseph Campbell
