WELCOME SPRING! Yes, for many the ski

season came to an abrupt end last week. There are a few resorts hanging in there (check SkiNH.com) and Tuckerman Ravine is drawing big crowds. I’ve been riding my bicycle the one mile downhill to work; riding home is the tough part. Charlie and Rachel have started running and I should join them to get ready for a few running races coming up soon. I confess I am having

trouble being upbeat. Events we love have been cancelled. A week ago was Mount Sunapee’s last day and last Friday the TGIF league’s Mark Parris Me- morial, that would have been our final, had to be cancelled. The kids got it tough

too. Last Friday would have been the annual MJ Lafoley Race at Water- ville Valley, along with the weekend events including Sunapee’s famous tee- shirt race and Cranarchy- -Cranmore’s Darkside Ter- rain Park contest, all were all cancelled.

These youngsters love to ski! See you next season! Or will Mother Nature surprise us?! Now, think back. We

didn’t have it so bad this season and those of you that hit the trails know I am speaking the truth! There was a lot of great skiing thanks to the snow-

makers and Mother Na- ture did kick in when we needed her most! Even Nordic skiers had much to be thankful about this

past season. (Okay back- country was sparse, we deserve to whine.) Charlie and I skied cross- country from Halloween up

Say Hello to Handsome! Now aged 11, Handsome is a senior Maine Coon. He is regal in stature, and until recently lived with a number of cats prior to being given up by former owners in November.

We quickly noted he needed serious medical inter- vention. We treated his ear mites. We treated his se- vere gingivitis and cleaned his teeth that were frankly in a terrible state. Right now he is on a tiny dose of prednisone to keep the inflammation at bay. Getting out of the shelter and into a loving home would truly be the best medicine for Handsome.

He could blossom in a home where he is in fact, The King, since he craves fussing and cuddling and atten- tion, as much attention as you can bestow upon him at as the only cat. Handsome enjoys the company of other cats, and would truly fit into almost any home environment.

Please come and see Handsome, you will fall in love! Shelter is open Tues/Thurs/Fri/Sat.

Closed to the public Mon/Wed/Sun. For more information www.nhhumane.org Courtesy of the Weirs Times & Cocheco Times

until last week. Bretton Woods pulled off the best Nordic weekend ever. On March 10th, the New Eng- land Ski Museum’s 4th Annual TD Bank Bretton Woods Nordic Marathon at the Omni Mount Washing- ton Resort had nearly 200 participants ski the 21k or 42k marathon course and it was a wonderful success. The following day over 100 skiers raced in the Mount Washington Cup. The Swix Warehouse sale had record sales and a percentage of the rev- enue went to support the NE Ski Museum! I can’t wait until next year. We didn’t have a sin-

gle night of Adult Cor- porate League Racing at Pats Peak cancelled in the whole 9 week series. Only one night did I think it was
