instant, sometimes the words as well. Verses will take a little longer. It can be a frustrating and exhausting process, once the right words come, you capture that feeling, there is nothing like it in the world.

Kix: Tell Kix, about your latest album ‘Authenticity’ the type of music / artists featuring on the album…

Authenticity is an album with a rock influence, alternative, indie. Lyrically it’s a bit of a darker album as fans and media mentions, but Nicolay states that the album is the next step to the Foreign Exchange movement. Wanting to re-invent themselves and take a couple of new influences that they have explored e.g. take a country sounding track like, “Laughing At Your Plans”, it has a lot more of an

acoustic sound, singer / songwriter sounds like “Everything Must Go”. The authenticity album takes all of the influences together and makes up the Foreign Exchange and puts it into one album, a versatile mix of genres. The album works as a collective of tracks, in hearing it (go buy a copy now).

Kix: The Grammy-

nomination for the album’s first single, “Daykeeper”… tell Kix about that day and moment… Phonte declares that he was asleep at that moment in time, in receiving the message on the nomination, in hearing it from the head of operations later that day, Phonte says “that’s great” and falls asleep. When awaking to the large amount of messages and texts that was when the feeling became real, a surreal moment for the group. Foreign Exchange believed in there music before, after and always without the nomination. In getting to the top of the music chain on our own terms and staying focused on the groups vision. The Nomination gave faith to us and the people that Nickoly and Phonte can get nominated so can we. More of a Symbolic Victory then Foreign Exchange taking home the trophy.

Kix: Tell Kix, about the track ‘Maybe She’ll Dream Of Me’, the video concept.

As Nicolay Grins and mentions that the concept was simple, as Foreign Exchange wanted to put Phonte in the ocean and

have him in the sand, Phonte jumps in and says “he really gave it for the band in that Song” (Lol). The storyline of the video is about the power of dreams and their influences, a guy dreaming about this girl and the girl leading him in these different scenarios and chasing her. A metaphor for love itself. With most of the songs from the band they wish to tell a story though the imagery or the song.

Kix: Any Release from the group, in 2011…

Phonte is working on a solo release, which will be out in the fall. Outside of that

several projects in the making, at the same time shows, pr and appearances, with the latest release ‘Authenticity’, as they believe the album promoted correctly can reach the masses then increase current fan base. The movement has already started as they are much further than the previous albums released. Its an

exciting moment to watch and be apart of. Also promote our band, a member Zo (who plays the keys in the band) with his album ‘Sun storm’ and working on a EP of cover songs that the band give out as a sample to our band, releasing around Spring. A lot of work, plan is to stay busy and giving our fans something to listen to.

Kix: Individually, any special abilities… (music or personal) Nicolay’s special ability is music as its something he does best, that is his main talent.

Phonte’s ability is music, also to get buried in sand (Lol) making people understand my position very close to politics, in song writing, in making influences in peoples lives. “Song writing is the ultimate political game, as you gotta take your personal problems and make other people feel the same problem, convincing people.” Phonte mentions if Foreign E xchange makes it into movies, he wanted to act in a football film, as he would like to give the ‘coaches speech’, if that isn’t the best part of the movie, then its not great. “That’s my goal and dream, any directors out there holla” Greatest coaches
