SPRING 11 COLLECTIONS

The collection stays true to the Reiss handwriting and is driven by separates and dresses but also features some trend-driven winners

« REISS WOMENSWEAR

The look Womenswear at Reiss comprises a wide selection of separates and capsule pieces. Standout items include a knitted maxi dress with elbow-length sleeves, a loose-fit silk blouse in indigo and caramel- coloured leather shorts. The retailer serves up a selection

of signature dresses including a sweet prom-style mini dress and a floor-length dress with a low-cut back. Long, silk maxi skirts and loose-fit tailoring also catch the eye as Reiss channels 1970s themes and a minimalist direction.

Right for the market? Reiss will target a wider customer base from spring 11 and so has introduced a wider selection of capsule pieces. The collection stays true to the Reiss handwriting and remains driven by separates and dresses but also features some trend-driven winners including loose tailoring and long-line silhouettes on dresses. There is plenty in the spring 11

range to attract the sophisticated Reiss customer who is looking for basics. Key season staples include jersey tops, maxi-length skirts and dresses and tailored leather jackets. Although Reiss had not finalised

pricing as Drapers went to press, it is likely the collection will offer more entry-level pricing options than in previous seasons.

REISSMENSWEAR

The look The menswear collection features standout mix-and-match pieces, while fabric finish and design detail are at the forefront of Reiss’s agenda for spring 11. The collection is bohemian and not

overly masculine. Instead, slim-fit chinos are rolled above the ankle and styled with muslin loose-fit shirts, soft tailored jackets and scarves. Knits are medium in weight but oversized. The palette has a natural vibe, with caramel and creams underpinned by deep blues, a baby pink and chocolate brown.

Right for the market? Menswear director James Spreckley says: “We understand our customer knows how to dress and is looking to harness their personality rather than be [prescribed to]. It is refreshing that menswear

retailers are acknowledging the sophistication of their customers. As a result Reiss has developed a collection that – similar to Topman this season – does not slavishly interpret trends but instead offers loose themes. On offer are key basics, quality

pieces for a layered look, intelligent pattern cutting on shirts and jackets and design details such as double- button envelope pockets, grandad collars on shirts and urbane accessories.
