Area 3 Promotional Club News
The 35th annual Quarter Horse show at Teen Ranch was held on June 18th-20th. Great facilities, great competi- tion and great weather were enjoyed by all who attended.
The next Area3 show will be the Novice show on August 13th and Summer Circuit on August 14th-15th. The new location is the Orangeville Fairgrounds with all stalls in the new and existing barns . The Novice show is the 2nd largest in all of AQHA! Clinics run all day by Professional Horsemen, lots of prizes, awards and entry level showing.
Spotlight: Circle R Saddlery
Ontario born Ray Laviolette came by his interest in saddles naturally through riding and association with horse people. Riding was his hobby and when saddles and tack were not available he decided to open a tack shop. In 1972 Circle R Tack Shop was opened, it was soon transformed into a saddle shop as there were more repairs for local horse people then sales. From a repair shop it became a full saddle shop by 1976. In 1978 the great horseman Monty Foreman gave Ray the rights to build the Balanced Ride saddle. Ray has built close to 800 in his shop, some for export to the U.S, Germany, France and Italy. Many of those for World Champi- ons in Reining, Pleasure, Barrels and Cut-
ting. Area3 is honoured to have Circle R Saddlery as a sponsor of our shows! Be sure to visit Ray at the shows or through the website at
www.area3.ca
The Summer Circuit is 2 split/combined shows plus offers NSBA dual approved classes, AQHA, OQHA and Area3 point approved. The Summer Circuit will be the 3rd show in 2010 to offer the Adult Walk/Jog Trot Division. These classes are being offered to encourage new adult rid- ers to participate at Quarter Horse shows at an entry level. At Summer Circuit this division will be “no bling” and open to all breeds. Exhibitors are to show in work tack, no chaps or fancy attire. Classes offered include trail, horsemanship and equitation.

Horse you are showing this year: I’m showing my 4 year old Bay gelding AKA One Hot Idea. Coach: Patti Carter. Class(es) you show in: Hunter under saddle , Showman- ship & Equitation. Favourite song(s): I don't really have one, I listen to pretty much anything… Favourite Movie: The Hangover. Favourite Food: Would for sure have to be spaghetti! Best quality about your horse: I really love how my horse loves attention, and will do anything to get it. Why you show: I show horses because I love the sport... You need a lot of drive to do good, it’s a lot of fun and you get to meet a lot of new people. Goals: My goal would have to be to place in the top ten at the Congress.

EOQHA News
in full swing. Our first two shows were charmed as good weather always appeared in time for the riding classes. We are now in full preparation mode for our last circuit of the season, our Summer Sizzler. The Sizzler starts off July 28th with our Special Events day, sponsored by Hepburn trailers, to be judged by Bonnie Miller of NY. The classes start at 10 am with a full slate of Hunter Under Saddle classes starting with 2 year Hunter Under Saddle followed by the Western Pleasure classes, also starting with 2 year old Western Pleasure, finishing with a jack- potted Gambler’s Choice Trail class. Class fee is $15.00.
Well show season is now
After the show the Youth will be holding a fundraising Truck Wash.
Day two of the circuit, July 29th, is an all Novice event day sponsored by EOQHA, and will be judged by Lindsay Grice of Ontario. The full slate of Novice classes follows the regu- lar class schedule and will begin at 9 am. This is usually one of the largest all Novice shows in North America and well worth attending. Back by popular demand, Barnies Horse Treats is again our 2010 Platinum spon- sor for this event. Clinics will be presented before each division starts by such trainers as Patti Carter-Pratt, Leslie Uens, Kathy Martin and many, more. So take this opportunity to learn, com- pete and have fun. The all Novice Day Circuit awards are sponsored by EOQHA
On the 30th of July the Summer Sizzler begins with Dan Williams from IL and Tina
Anderson from TX judging the first two day show and Jan Stef- fl from TX and Sheldon Soder- berg from AB judging the last two days. There will special classes held during the Sizzler that you just won’t want to miss! The Showmanship Chal- lenge sponsored by Dave Gra- ham, held Friday and Monday, will have people doing their drills for $500 in prize money. One of the most exciting classes should be an all ages NSBA and AQHA Trail Challenge with $1,000 added sponsored by CGI and Management Plus. Remem- ber that NSBA pays 93.98 dol- lars per point. This is a great opportunity to earn points and NSBA incentive fund dollars. The Youth aren’t forgotten either as there will be a Small Fry Showmanship for those 12 and under. Several jackpotted classes will be offered: two year old Hunter Under Saddle and two year old Western Plea-
