Ontario Reining Horse Association News President’s Message


After a very wet and stormy start to our show season, we then had a long six weeks before the next show at Kemptville. For many of us, that was a welcome delay as we worked on fixing the problems that appeared at that first show.


Reining is a very humbling sport – no mat- ter how ready you think you and your horse are, what happens when you step into the showpen can tell a whole different story. But the chal- lenge is also part of the enjoyment, as when it all comes together, the sense of accomplishment is extraordinary. And hey, when it doesn’t work, there’s always another day and another run. The great thing about reiners is that we all have fun regardless.


The Fletchers show in May was our first full show with the new entry form, and the feed- back has been very positive. Thank you every- one for your patience and cooperation as we get up and running with the new format. For those who have three year olds they are working on, please note that the Sired Stakes Futurity at the October Grand Finale will be one or two-handed, with any legal bit, and that show has now been confirmed for the London Agriplex.


Until the next show, remember, if you ain’t sliding, you ain’t riding. Stay safe and see you in the warmup pen.

During the July 30th, 31st and August 1st show at Fletchers Horse World there will once again be a special promotion supported by Kodak Canada. Kodak will bring the newest technology digital print centres to Fletchers Horseworld, where everyone can bring their digital media camera cards to develop 4 X 6 full colour pictures for only 25 cents each. This is a great chance for every- one to develop all those pictures they have been saving on their cards with ALL proceeds going to the ORHA Youth. This was a good fundraiser at Fletchers May show so bring those photo cards and get some more printed.
