Don’t forget that if you have a paint horse we are part of the Paint Alternative Credit pro- gram where Paint Horses can earn recognition for their achievements. Even though APHA is not officially associated with these events, the associ- ation does want to recognize your efforts on your American Paint Horse. As a result, your accom- plishments can be recorded on your registered horse's official lifetime performance record through PAC. Exhibitors must have a verifica-

The Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Bonus Program
The NBHA is partnered again this year with the OQHRP Post Racing Bonus Program for all eligible Quarterhorses. Please see the website
www.ontarioracingcommission.ca for any infor- mation that could help you earn your share of this amazing incentive being offered to owners of for- mer racing quarterhorses. When you come to the show, please have the show committee sign your form to verify for your bonus.
Troy Crumrine Clinic
The Troy Crumrine Clinic was well attend- ed and 15 horses and riders spent 2 days with World Barrel Racing Champion Troy Crumrine as part of the Brant County Western Fest. Riders and horses both got individual and group atten- tion and showed huge improvements after the 2 days spent in the outdoor pen. We’d like to thank Troy to coming back to Canada again for this event Brant County results will be available in the next newsletter and on the web.
NBHA Finals
Mark your calendar for August 27 – 29th for this years finals to be held at Ancaster Fair- grounds. The finals committee is currently working this event and the entry forms and schedule will be mailed out next week.. Second Annual Toronto Horse Day Maintained Its Stride With Another Successful Event
The Ontario Equestrian Federa- tion (OEF) is pleased to announce that the second annual Toronto Horse Day was another successful event! Over 500 visitors came through the front doors of the Horse Palace at Exhibition
barn clean and safe; EquiMania! was in attendance provid- ing visitors the opportunity to braid a horse’s tail, learn about horse anatomy and learn about equine behaviour, etc.; Safety - Tack-Two EMS & Fire Inc. was equipped with their ambulance to discuss the importance of helmet safety and to answer questions on safety;
Place to learn about horses and be entertained with live demonstrations. This event provided the general public an opportunity to experience a horse first hand with the hopes of introducing new riders to the sport.
The Toronto Police Ser- vices Mounted Unit set up their display and talked with visitors about their police officers and horses; Nutrition – Agribrands Puri- na showcased the different types of horse feed; Therapeutic Riding – the Community Association for Riding for the Disabled (CARD) discussed therapeutic riding

Spaced throughout the Horse Palace, various education stations were set up to offer visitors a hands-on learning experience. The stations included the following topics: Grooming – The Riding Academy at the Horse Palace discussed the impor- tance of grooming and demonstrated how to properly brush a horse; Tack – Greenhawk Harness & Eques- trian Supplies provided English and Western saddles and bridles for visitors to sit in, touch and compare the differ- ences between the two; Meet the Farrier – Symon Pidhainy gave a ‘hot’ demonstration of how horseshoes are fitted and shaped; Stable Safety – Greenhawk Harness & Equestrian Supplies showcased the equipment that is involved in keeping a

HorseJobs.ca were on hand to answer questions about what careers there are in the industry; and Face Painting - visitors had the oppor- tunity to get in the spirit and have their faces painted with horsey designs. It didn’t just stop with all of these amazing education stations, visitors were also treated to a non-stop display of riding and driving demonstrations. Gary Yaghdjian, OEF President, was a great emcee for the day explaining each demonstration to the audience. The Toronto Police Services Mounted Unit showcased the gear that the horse and rider must wear when they are patrolling the streets. The OEF was pleased to have professional reining rider, Loris Epis with his new mount “S V Save Sum Cash “ (a.k.a. Penny) owned by Pat Grochowina. Loris and Penny dazzled the audience with the exhilarating sport of reining and kept the crowd on the edge of their seats as they watched them perform their amazing spins and slides!

Eve Dexter and her miniature horse Kaitland’s Desert Prince along- side Jackie Shute and her Welsh Pony, Logan, demonstrated the disciplines of pleasure driving and combined driving. Tanya Martin and her Standard- bred, Heirs Above, along with Brian Tropea provided the audience with the history of Harness Racing and informa- tion on the Standardbred breed. Camilla Willings and her 12 year- old stallion Mercenario deLa Libertad provided the audience with an amazing performance of their freestyle that won them the titles of Canadian Wind Rider Challenge Champion and the North
The Ontario Quarter Horse Asso- ciation was proud to introduce the rein- ing 2009 All American Quarter Horse Congress Queen, Miss Ashley Cook and the newly crowned 2010 Ontario Quarter Horse Association Queen, Miss Lindsay Allen.
The Upper Canada District (Ontario) Canadian Horse Breeders put on a driving and riding demonstration. Brenda Pantling drove her horse Du Coteau Lalou Beauport around the arena while Katherine Hope rode Hid- den Meadow Adanac Jamieson. Riding Academy Instructors, Megan Ballantine riding K.C, Clare Feldman riding Fergus and Caitlin McConnell riding Seven did a jumping demonstration that highlighted the dif- ferences between riding a course as a hunter rider, a jumper rider and as an eventer. Their demonstration was spec- tacular.
Then in the afternoon Megan Bal- lantine and Caitlin McConnell put on an amazing demonstration of Dressage by performing a Pas de Deux. All of the displays were simply incredible and kept the crowds atten- tion throughout the day.
