28/ JULY 2010 THE RIDER OQHA Joins OEF for Toronto Horse Day 1 2 3

OEF hosted its second annual Toronto Horse Day at the Horse Palace of the CNE grounds on June 12, 2010. OQHA along with several other breed and discipline associations set up displays and had horses on hand to perform live demonstrations for the general public in what was once the old “Quarterama” warm up ring.

The newly crowned 2010 OQHA Queen Miss Lindsay Allen made her first public appearance at this event, and was accompanied by Miss Ashley Cook the reigning All American Quarter Horse Congress Queen, and OQHA Pro- motions & Publicity chairperson, Laurie Haughton. Both Queens were on hand autographing self-portrait post cards for the children that found themselves in awe of the Queen’s glamour and “blinged-out” apparel.

“It was a fun day,” said Congress Queen Ashley Cook, “and I think the autographing element will give Lindsay a good idea of what she has in store for herself when she gets to Congress”

A special Thank-you from OQHA to our “demo hors- es” used to exemplify the Quarter Horse breed and their rider’s and handlers; Congress Reining Champion Loris Epis, riding a beautiful 6 year old mare by Nu Chex To Cash owned by John and Pat Grochowina who demonstrat- ed the athleticism and agility of the Quarter Horse and the Riding Academy at the Horse Palace for presenting their palomino Quarter Horse gelding affectionately know as “Cheerio” who demonstrated the gentle disposition and dependability of the Quarter Horse breed.

OQHA would also like to thank the staff at OEF for organizing such a well run and informative event, and for inviting OQHA to take part, and Kyle Foster for assisting in setting up and taking down our OQHA display.
